The Legacy of Black Power in Moss Side: Coca Clarke tells her story

Coca Clarke is an 85-year-old Black Power activist and she is still an active member of the vibrant Moss Side community, a community that – despite its many laudable efforts – struggles to shred off the lazy stereotypes and assumptions placed on an entire community by the media since the ‘gang wars’ of the ‘80s and ‘90s. In this interview, Clarke tells her story and that of her sister Kath Locke, the activist to whom the medical and community centre in Moss Side is dedicated. Continue reading

The Color Bars Experience plays Nick Drake + Troy Von Balthazar, Islington Assembly Hall 5/12/2016

by Stefania Ianne  @stillarte The last days of autumn in London seem to be plagued with Victorian water pipes constantly bursting and causing havoc, destroying venues and homes mainly in Islington, one of the rich northern boroughs in the city. A few years ago, while on my way to a gig, I heard the news it … Continue reading

LIVE: Beck + Nile Rodgers and CHIC, FOLD Festival, Fulham Palace, London 25/06/2016

Review and photos by Stefania Ianne A gloomy day in a gloomy summer. The British music scene has moved to Glastonbury for the muddiest festival in history. The rest of London is depressed, following the outcome of the referendum that has decreed the British exit from the European Union. But there is still room for … Continue reading
